The Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), an autonomous body under the Union Ministry of Ayurveda, on Tuesday launched ‘PRAGATI-2024’ (Pharmaceutical Research in Ayurvedic Medicine and Technological Innovations).
This provides an extremely fruitful opportunity for collaborative research in the field of Ayurveda. Today’s interactive meeting was aimed at exploring research opportunities and fostering collaboration between CCRAS and the Ayurvedic pharmaceutical industry.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister of Ayurveda Rajesh Kotecha emphasised the important role of the industry in the development of Ayurveda. He stressed that the industry has great potential to expand and develop the sector, noting that the influx of new practitioners and start-ups offers great opportunities for growth.
Speaking at PRAGATI-2024, Prof. Ravinarayan Acharya, DG, CCRAS, highlighted the growing momentum of Ayush products, especially Ayurveda, both in India and globally. “CCRAS’s objective is to reach out to all stakeholders. That’s why we have started giving scholarships to students so that they understand the importance of research. We have started programmes to reach out to teachers and students through research and scholarships.”
Dr. Kustoba Upadhaya, Advisor, Ministry of Ayurveda, delivered an insightful address at PRAGATI-2024 where he emphasised that “research and industry must work together to ensure that their joint efforts ultimately benefit the society.”
He emphasised that the quality of Ayurvedic products is fundamentally rooted in rigorous research and stressed the importance of developing high quality, safe and effective Ayurvedic products based on research.The latest newsletter of CCRAS and the CCRAS activities calendar for 2024-25 were also launched during the event.
