Thiruvananthapuram: A passenger was feared to have been bitten by a snake on board a Nilambur-Seornur passenger train on Tuesday morning. Ayurvedic doctor Gayatri (25) has been admitted to a hospital in Perinthalmanna where she is undergoing treatment. Passengers have confirmed that they saw the snake inside the train bogie and railway authorities have also launched an investigation.
Gayatri, an Ayurvedic doctor, was travelling to Seonghur in a regular carriage when the train suddenly got off when it reached Valapuzha. Gayatri reached out to people gathered at the station and asked them to take her to a hospital immediately. Gayatri had bite marks on her legs, according to reports.
Taking notice of concerns, the railway police searched the bogie when the train reached Shonur but found nothing suspicious. Further details are awaited on the Ayurvedic doctor’s health report.
Another passenger exiting the same carriage complained of seeing a snake and said all other passengers were standing on their seats out of fear of the reptile.
A similar incident occurred on the Guruvayur-Madurai Express on April 15. When the train reached Ettumanoor, Karthik, a native of Madurai, felt bitten and saw a snake squirming inside the carriage. Karthik was subsequently admitted to Kottayam Medical College and Hospital where he told doctors he had seen a snake inside the train.
