Providing healthy summer meals for Alice’s children will ensure they have a healthy holiday and return to school ready to learn.

This summer, Alice Independent School District will provide healthy, free summer meals to students ages 18 and under, and enrolled students with disabilities up to age 21. The Summer School Meal Program (SFSP) is a USDA nutrition program administered in the Lone Star State by the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA). For students who rely on school meals during the school year, these meals provide a nutritional supplement during the long summer break.
“Children in Alice, Texas need good nutrition all year round to learn, grow and succeed in life,” said Lenvy Lloda, director of dining services for Chartwells K12. “With nearly 2 million food insecure children in Texas, these healthy meals are essential to keeping Texas youth nourished over the summer.”
Alice ISD’s summer meals will be served Monday through Friday from June 3 through June 28 at Alice High School, William Adams Middle School, DuBose Elementary School and Saenz Elementary School, and will also be delivered to the Boys & Girls Club and Youth Center in Alice, Texas. Follow us on Facebook (Alice ISD Child Nutrition) and on our website (www.aliceisd.net/foodservice) for scheduled meal times.
Alice ISD is one of several nonprofits partnering with TDA to provide meals across Texas, and we recommend using these three tools to find meal locations anywhere in the state.
- Call 2-1-1 and speak to an operator

- Text FOOD or COMIDA to 304-304
Organizations partner with TDA to provide meals in communities where 50% or more children qualify for free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch Program. Eligible sponsoring organizations include schools, religious organizations, non-profit summer camps, government agencies, and other tax-exempt organizations. All meal sites must be sponsored by an organization that has a contract with TDA.
Summer meal sites help children succeed by providing the nutrition they need to return to school healthy in the fall.
