Bhopal: 10 Advanced Meditation Program The exercise concluded at Bhopal Central Jail on Sunday with 467 male and female inmates from five Central Jails and one Circular Jail participating enthusiastically.
The inmates expressed their gratitude and said that if they had received the program sooner, things might not have turned out this way. Many of them became emotional as they recounted their experiences.
The course was led by senior meditation teachers Sunil Jain and Shraddha Singh Tamkar, who have experience teaching meditation to prisoners. They used simple yet effective techniques to help participants understand the benefits of meditation and how it can transform their lives.
Throughout the programme, the teachers regularly followed up with the participants to ensure that they were practising meditation and working on the challenges they faced on a daily basis. State Teacher Coordinator Himanshi Gupta expressed her gratitude to the Prisons Department and all the district coordinators and teachers of the prison programme.
The prisoners said the program helped them manage stress, anxiety and anger issues. After practicing meditation regularly, they felt more relaxed and focused. Some of them expressed a desire to continue meditating after their release.
The program also had a positive impact on prison officials, who noticed significant changes in the behavior of prisoners who participated in the program: prisoners became more disciplined, cooperative, and respectful toward staff and other prisoners.they said.
Advanced meditation programs have proven to be an effective tool in the rehabilitation of prisoners. They have the potential to transform their lives and help them become productive members of society. They benefit the prisoners, their families and the community at large.
The program could be replicated in other prisons across the country and play a major role in rehabilitating inmates.
