Agartala, May 27: The Tripura government is mulling over a plan to set up an Ayurvedic and Homeopathic medical college in the state, Chief Minister Manik Saha said on Monday.
Speaking to the media after inspecting the State Ayurvedic Hospital in Agartala, the Chief Minister announced the state government’s plans to bring in a proposed medical college in the new building.
“A letter has been sent by the health minister to the Centre in this regard. We will start with the Ayurvedic medical college and then move on to the Homeopathic medical college. There are several issues that need to be addressed and I have given instructions to resolve these issues as soon as possible. Also, we will be expanding the infrastructure of this building,” Dr Saha said.
As hinted by the Chief Minister, the proposed Ayurvedic medical college will soon start functioning in the city.
During the visit, the Prime Minister was accompanied by Health Minister Kiran Gitte and interacted with patients and hospital staff about the existing facilities.
Earlier, Dr Saha, who visited the old building of the hospital, said a significant number of patients visit the State Ayurvedic Hospital every day and steps have already been taken to ensure that people get proper services at the medical facility.
