Stressing that spiritual empowerment is true empowerment, President Draupadi Murmu on Monday said followers of any religion or sect, if they stray from the path of spirituality, become victims of fanaticism and fall into an unwholesome state of mind.
“Spiritual values connect people of all religions with each other,” she said while speaking at the nationwide launch ceremony of ‘Spiritual Empowerment for Clean and Healthy Society’ organised by Brahma Kumaris in New Delhi.
The President said working in the spirit of public welfare while overcoming selfishness is a social expression of inner spirituality. Performing charitable acts for the public good is one of the most important spiritual values, she added.
She said that forces fomenting fear, terrorism and war are active in many parts of the world. In such an environment, the Brahma Kumari Society, through its many centres in over 100 countries, has provided an effective platform for empowerment of humanity. This is a valuable initiative to strengthen universal brotherhood by promoting spiritual values.
The President said that the golden ages in world and national history have always been based on spiritual values. World history has shown that ignoring spiritual values and choosing only the path of material progress ultimately led to disastrous results.
“Total well-being is possible only based on a healthy mind. A truly healthy person fulfils all the three dimensions – physical, mental and spiritual. Such a person creates healthy societies, nations and global communities,” she added.
She expressed joy that the Brahma Kumaris Society is probably the largest religious organisation in the world run by women, in which Brahma Kumaris have always been at the forefront, while their fellow Brahma Kumars work in the background, she said.
“Such unique harmony has enabled the organisation to continuously move forward and in so doing, have set a unique example of spiritual progress and women empowerment to the global community,” she added.
