Living Arts Patient Support During Sunrise Review

Submitted by Living Medial Arts PLLC
Naturopathic medicine underwent a Department of Health Sunrise Review with the goal of expanding its reach to help more people in Washington state. Living Medical Arts PLLC reached out to patients and asked them to submit responses about whether Dr. Gulla or any other naturopathic doctor has helped them.
For those unfamiliar with sunrise reviews, the Institute for Justice website describes them as “a process by which states evaluate the need for new occupational regulations, particularly those related to personal qualifications such as licensure, state certification, and mandatory registration.” Some states also review changes to existing regulations, such as amendments to scope of practice laws that define the tasks practitioners can perform, but this report only covers reviews of new regulations.
The Washington Society of Naturopathic Physicians wrote to its members:
“We were thrilled that our relatively small profession submitted over 60% of the written comments and that all of the comments submitted by physicians were unique and heartfelt. We were truly surprised that nearly 70% of the supportive comments were actually submitted by patients. We are so grateful to all of you for spreading the word and providing such incredible care that so many patients took the time to email us and share their stories of how their naturopathic doctor has changed their lives.”
Dr. Gala was listed as one of the physicians who received the most letters of support, and WAMP said, “We would like to extend special thanks to several WANP members whose names have been mentioned time and time again through their perseverance: Dr. Alecia Fleming, Dr. Mandy Gala, several naturopathic physicians at the Institute for Complementary Medicine, and several naturopathic physicians at SageMed…we see you and the efforts you have made on behalf of our entire profession.”
Dr. Gala would like to thank all those who have supported this work and the wonderful art of naturopathic medicine.
“I would like to thank everyone who took the time to write to the Ministry of Health,” she said.
