Viewers may not be expecting to see Tamar Braxton on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” anytime soon.
During a recent interview with podcast host Carlos King at Atlanta’s City Winery, the Gamie Award-nominated singer revealed that he was approached to join the Bravo series but quickly turned it down.
“I’ve had conversations, and I’m not going to put on a wig and makeup to argue with people about stupid stuff,” Tamar Braxton told the crowd. “I can’t do that. What good would that do me? What’s the point of arguing?”
“All money is not good money,” she continued. “I deserve what I deserve, and it’s damaging to my mental health to argue with other beautiful black women over petty things so that others can see and think this is what we’re here for.”

“At some point, we have to take responsibility for what’s on television,” she says. “I want to make epic TV shows that are feel-good, funny, relatable.”
RHOA has been a popular Bravo housewife series since it first aired in 2008, but its popularity has dwindled in recent seasons due to conflicts among the cast.
The series went on hiatus for recasting after season 15 concluded in September 2023. Cameras began rolling again earlier this month, starring Kenya Moore and Porsha Williams, with Porsha returning after a two-season absence amid a messy divorce from estranged husband Simon Guovadia.

Kandy Burruss will not be returning to RHOA after 14 years on the show. “I chose to take a break,” she told PEOPLE exclusively at the 2024 People’s Choice Awards, hinting at a possible return in the future. “It was my decision to step aside.”
“I started working on other projects that excited me,” the American actress and businesswoman explained, “I enjoyed making deals and exploring new opportunities without the stress. While filming the show, I realised there was only so much I could do, so I decided to commit myself to trying new things and fully exploring other avenues.”
Season 16 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta is scheduled to be released in 2025. Fans can watch past seasons on Peacock.
