Looking for something fun and spiritual to do in the coming weeks? Here are some upcoming events in the Diocese of Wilmington.

  • On the beach in late May? Check out the St. Luke’s Parish Golf Open. Bayside Resort Golf Club May 29th. We are still accepting sponsorships. The day includes a full round of golf and a dinner banquet. For more information, call (410) 250-0300.
  • June 3rd 6pm there will be Devotion to St. Elizabeth, St. Elizabeth Church, Wilmington. Features an exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, the Liturgy of the Word, the Benediction, the Litany, and hymns to St. Elizabeth. Expectant parents in attendance will have a blessing offered upon their unborn babies. All are welcome. (302) 652-3626.
  • A country-western party will be held at St. Benedict’s Church in Ridgely on June 8 from 5 to 8 p.m. Enjoy live entertainment by The Jones Boys, a delicious dinner, dancing, a cash bar, silent auction, and live auction. Tickets are $25, children under 12 are free. To purchase tickets, contact the parish office at 410-634-2253.
  • If you like parades, St. Anthony’s Society Newcastle’s St Peter the Apostle Church celebrates its 100th anniversary with a parade through the streets. Marchers wave to the audience as they make their way to a short ceremony at the Italian monument. Enjoy complimentary traditional Italian water ice and sample homemade wine. Parading members and family members as well as friends, neighbors, parishioners and an authentic Italian band. Organizers are inviting everyone to join in the celebration. If you are unable to walk and are lucky enough to live near the march route, gather on the sidewalk with your chairs and red, white, and green flags and celebrate the 100th anniversary.   • The St. John the Beloved Parish Carnival runs June 3-8 and features rides, food, and live entertainment. Bands scheduled to perform are Teenage Satellite, The Everafter, Love Seed Mama Jump, Decade 80, Helix and Electric Blue Concept. Advance tickets will be sold after the weekend Mass on May 25-26 and June 1-2, excluding the final mass on Sunday. Ticket strips are $20 with 20% off and Family Night Bracelet is $25. Tickets can also be purchased and donated to the parish to be distributed to those less fortunate. The carnival is open every night from 6pm to 10pm.   • One of the most popular carnivals in the region The 50th annual St. Antonio Italian Festival will be held from June 9th to 16th. Hours are June 9th from 4pm to 10:30pm, June 10th to 14th from 6pm to 10:30pm, and June 15th from 4pm to 10:30pm. , June 16 from 2 to 6 p.m. Includes Italian and Carnival food options. , live music, traditional dancing, rides, and games. It is almost cashless. All major credit cards are accepted at the event. Additionally, gift cards and admission passes can be purchased in advance or on-site. Parking for the event is located in the gravel lot across 18th Street from the Salesianum School. Shuttles run daily from 30 minutes before doors open until 30 minutes after doors close.   • and St. Joseph Parish in Middletown will host a carnival from June 11th to 15th. It also includes rides and games, as well as an outdoor grill and other dining options. Entertainment is held nightly “under the big top.” This year’s carnival will have a perimeter fence, which was added in consultation with the Middletown Police Department, the diocese said. There will be an admission fee, which has not yet been announced. Free parking is available. St. Joseph’s is located at 371 E. Main St. in Middletown.   • On June 20th, the Little Sisters of the Poor will host their annual Swing for Little Sisters Golf Tournament. Deerfield Country Club, Newark. All proceeds benefit the Jeanne Jugan House, where the Little Sisters provide a home for the poorest seniors of all races and religions where they will be welcomed as Christ, cared for as family, and cared for in dignity until God calls them to it. Sponsorships range from $200 to $10,000; $200 for golfers and $50 for dinner guests. Donations for the raffle and silent auction are also welcome.
