The School Nutrition Association believes in the importance of starting the day well, and that includes providing every student with a nutritious breakfast. Each year, we celebrate National School Breakfast Week to encourage all schools to recognize the importance of a healthy start to the day to improve children’s academic success. Children who eat breakfast tend to achieve better in reading and math, have higher standardized test scores, have better concentration and memory, are more alert, and are more likely to maintain a healthy weight.
Broward County Public Schools provides free breakfast to all BCPS students every school day, and the National School Breakfast Program provides 14.45 million nutritious breakfasts to hungry children across the United States every day.
