WHEELING, WV — The Wheeling Police Department is reminding people traveling through the City of Wheeling on Saturday, May 25th and Sunday, May 26th to be cautious of those participating in this weekend’s Ogden Half Marathon and Wellness Weekend.
The citywide half marathon running and walking event is scheduled to begin around 7:15 a.m. Saturday and continue until around 11 a.m., officials said.
Officials say the course will be slightly modified this year due to construction in downtown and Elm Grove.
This course uses 14 partsth Street, Jacob Street, 16th Downtown street.The race will also be extended to 39.th South Wheeling Street.
With the closure of the Monument Place Bridge in Elm Grove, the course will use Evelyn Avenue and Junior Avenue, officials said. Residents of the Hildal district will be restricted from entering the area starting Saturday morning and will have to enter and exit via the national highway.
Friday, May 24th
- Fulton area only: Lasting from approximately 7 a.m. to approximately 11 a.m., city activities will be in full effect on the state highway from Mount de Chantal Road to McColloch Street. Signage will be placed in this area. Once completed, motorists will be able to park on the road.

May 25 (Saturday)
- Police will clear the path of vehicles parked in areas marked “No Parking” after 12:01 a.m. Saturday. If the vehicle is not properly removed by race time, the vehicle will be towed. Signs have been placed in these areas.
- The areas where no parking will be strictly enforced are the Elm Grove Business District, the Fulton area, parts of downtown and Center/South Wheeling.
- Parking will be allowed once the race is completely over late Saturday morning.
- Bus route: OVTRA’s downtown bus stop on Nailers Way will be relocated to Eoff Street Saturday morning between 4 p.m.Number and 17Number street.
Officials said participants and spectators gathering at the downtown start/finish line are strongly encouraged to park at the Robert C. Byrd Intermodal Transportation Center at 1401 Main St.
Officials say access will only be from the Main Street entrance.
Police advise people not to travel on the race course unless necessary, but if they do, they urge people to drive below the posted speed limit and to be especially careful with people running or walking. ing.
Police officers are stationed at most major intersections to control traffic. Drivers are encouraged to be aware of cone-off lanes in various areas and look for participants on the right side of the road.
Sunday, May 26th
On Sunday, May 28th, there will be various road closures and minor traffic delays in the Downtown/Center Wheeling area due to the “Tough as Nails” Urban Challenge.
The event begins around noon and continues until around 5 p.m.
