World Meditation Day is May 21st. This day serves as a global platform to promote and highlight the practice of meditation and its immense benefits in today’s culture. Here, pop-reggae crossover artist Natty writes about the importance of mediation in his life and how it has influenced his future music. He also created his accompanying playlist to suit his thoughts. The songwriter, who released his previous single ‘Ascension’, which was originally released to coincide with the Spring Solstice, has released his second single ‘Ascension’, which is in tune with our inner chakras and helps us take time for ourselves. We also released a meditation version.
Natty says: “The songs in this playlist represent meditation from different angles and are some of my favorite sounds for relaxing as well as focusing. Whether it’s stillness or movement, mind or body, it’s perfect. Whether it’s a moment of peace or a moment of reflection, they’re assembled with one purpose in mind…to help raise your daily thoughts and vibrations. Support your actions and discover yourself. Acoustic support for your journey…joy.”

Meditation is something I’ve been trying to incorporate into my daily life for over 10 years. In many ways. I’ve been thinking about what that means for a while, and I have three ways of looking at him. In other words, there is a deliberate act of trying to quiet the mind or empty it of thought. And then there is a state of deep, concentrated thought, perhaps hearing the sound of the waves crashing on the shore or the sounds of the night. And finally, there is a state of contemplation where you collect your thoughts. Although stillness of the body is usually thought to be a precursor to stillness of the mind, it turns out that there are several different types of activities that can induce a meditative state. Usually these are repetitive actions like tilling the land or walking long distances.
There seem to be no hard and fast rules when it comes to meditation. For example, I meditate in the fields when I am at one with the plants and nature during my 2-3 hours of farming every day. Here the mind is still, but the body is moving. I also meditate when I take plant medicines. Since the body is stationary but the mind is moving rapidly across dimensions, there are so many angles from which this subject can be approached.
After some trials, I started creating meditation music with this diversity in mind. I started creating a mix of the main songs from this current album his project as a separate work. This is something that can be listened to in different environments, mixing different moods and emotions. It’s the diversity of all these approaches that made this work exciting for me as a producer. Every song I write always has something that sounds, for lack of a better word, “spiritual.”
My goal when creating these meditative works is to find an audio expression of that ethereal feeling and turn it into a journey of inner exploration, or a sonic blanket where the stillness of the mind can tune in to the sounds. is to change it to Sometimes the sound is jarring yet transfixing, other times it’s completely calming and simply a backdrop to the stillness of time, to varying degrees. There are many reasons why people meditate, but very few results, so if you look at the results, you’ll find a lot of commonalities. Inner peace, getting closer to God, gaining cosmic oneness, etc. As your humble minister of music, all I can do is provide some sounds that can assist you in these glorious divine adventures.
