Breathing exercises help slow down time. It takes only 4 minutes to complete one revolution. Photo credit: Moritz Ludtke

Dear Mr. Viette

I feel like I hate my partner. We’ve been together for 12 years, most of which have been happy times, and I can’t help but feel it. I feel so bad to get up and break up with him because he’s going through a tough time, but I’m so fed up. what would you do?

Thank you, Lauren, New Zealand

Lauren,

Ask yourself what you would want him to do if the tables were turned. For me, the answer is kindness. When you overcome something, you must first check to see if there is any turmoil within you, or if there is a change within yourself that will make a miracle happen. Then you should try those things. If you still want to quit, that’s even more insightful. You guys have been together for 12 years. It seems worth trying to clean up the side of the street. The truth is, perfect partners don’t exist. My suggestion is this. “Be great.” Do whatever it takes to make yourself the best person you can be. Then, ask yourself again how you feel about the other person.

With warm feelings, Viet

Dear Mr. Viette

I am an interior decorator and also do sculpting and decoration as a hobby in my spare time. Lately, I feel like all I can do is overeat and feel sad. I have zero desire to create. I’m still working and making ends meet, but I feel a sense of emptiness. What am I missing?

Chi-Town, empty

empty,

I hear you. All creators experience slumps. Energy is stagnant in the body and needs to be moved. Working out as well as physical exercises are highly recommended as a way to cure this. When it comes to food, it can be helpful to admit that you have some kind of addiction. Calling a spade a spade can be a simple thing that sets us free. Even if it’s just 10 minutes a day, you need to get in there and start creating again. Things start to change. I also think it would be helpful to consult a nutritionist and get blood tests done to find out what you’re missing. I would also like to add a prayer. Just go in there and ask the Universe, God, or whatever you want to call it, to help you get back into your body and be who you really are.

Love, Viette

Dear Mr. Viette

I read it in your book, Don’t just sit there!, that there is a “law of chance” in your life where everything is a coincidence and nothing is intentional. I can’t help but feel like I’m in it right now. I was in a car accident a few months ago. I’m okay but it disrupted my life and scared me. I can’t seem to help her daughter because her daughter won’t stop using drugs and being violent. I feel like if I try to change jobs, I’ll fail. Is this the law of accidents? If so, how can I get out?

Thank you, Margarine, New York

margarine,

To escape from the “Law of Accidents” you need to listen to the message. What message are these shocking incidents trying to convey to you? Here are tools to help you find out. 1. Start praying daily and ask in prayer for a higher power to give you a message, no matter what you believe. Ask to see the sign. The answer will come. 2. Start a meditation practice if you don’t already have one. This will give you time to listen to the answer. Start with 5 minutes and continue up to 30 minutes. 3. Take time each day to be grateful for what you have and all the benevolent news that is coming your way. Write a gratitude list. Feel the feeling of experiencing present abundance and future results. please let me know!

Love, Viette

Dear Mr. Viette

How do you survive summer with work, two kids, summer camp, and all kinds of beautiful chaos?

Nina, Hudson Valley, New York

Nina,

The first thing to remember is that most people choose to live small lives so they don’t face these problems. How wonderful that you chose to create a life filled with overwhelming joy! I find that breathing exercises are very helpful in slowing down time. Luckily, it only takes 4 minutes to complete one round. We recommend doing 3 rounds a day. It takes less than 10 minutes. Take time each day to write a gratitude list. This is very helpful.

Love, Viette
