This year’s PGA Championship will be held at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, one of the world’s premier bourbon birthplaces and where nearly all bourbon is made. Louisville is the only city in the world with over 10 distillery experiences, bourbon cocktail and culinary trails, as well as bourbon-themed lodging and shopping.
While drinking bourbon straight up may not be for everyone, there are plenty of mouth-watering cocktails made with it. That includes the time-honored Old Fashioned, made with simple syrup, bitters, and a touch of orange. It’s a classic cocktail, but it’s easier to make than you think.
Food-focused Instagram and TikTok accounts (@3piecesofpecan), which boast a combined following of more than 1.3 million people, recently shared easy-to-recreate ways to make delicious Old Fashioneds at home. I did a demonstration.
Check out his recipe below. Watch the video above for the complete tutorial.
Chance Cosby’s Perfect Old Fashioned Cocktail
material:
-Bourbon
・Simple syrup
-orange bitters
-orange slice
-ice
-cherry garnish
First, pour a few drops of simple syrup into a lowball glass. Then add a few dashes of bitters. Next, place an orange slice at the bottom of the glass and mix the orange pulp with the simple syrup and bitters.
“Mudling just releases flavor,” Cosby says. “This brings out the full flavor of the orange slices.”
After mixing, pour in a few ounces of bourbon and top with ice. The final touch? Cherries for decoration.
The result was a very delicious cocktail!
