In a proactive effort to address substance abuse and promote the well-being of all of Bartholomew County, ASAP (Substance Abuse Advancement Alliance) will be hosting a “Rethinking Health” symposium on June 6th.
The event will feature local and national wellness experts and preview interactive wellness workshops available to all employers and community organizations.
Symposium keynote speaker Dr. Joel Bennett, president of Organizational Wellness & Learning Systems, will share key insights for overcoming stress and building resilience with a nationally recognized, evidence-based curriculum tailored by Bennett to meet the county’s unique health and wellness needs as identified by 30 local employers and community organizations.
A special highlight of the event will be an interactive preview of the ASAP-sponsored workshop, which will be provided free of charge to organizations. Mr. Bennett will share highlights from his newly developed book Thriving from Stress: Building Resilience and Health. Skye Nicholson, MD, founder of Soul’s Truth Coaching, shares highlights from her uniquely designed training, “Managing the Stress Cycle.”
“This symposium is about embracing health to make a lasting impact on substance abuse,” said ASAP Executive Director Shelley Jewett. “Ultimately, by addressing stressors at both the individual and organizational levels, we can build more resilient communities that can thrive in the face of adversity.”

ASAP’s Wellness Rethinking Initiative aims to increase awareness and educate vulnerable populations about the importance of reevaluating current health habits and adopting sustainable habits for overall well-being.
