QUINCY — Most people who buy a business generally can’t wait to change the sign and tell everyone.
That wasn’t the case for Kyle Lonerenfitch, senior vice president of AYR Wellness in Boston.
“We wanted to make sure we didn’t just rip off the Band-Aid and immediately change our herbal remedies to AYR,” he said at a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday afternoon. “We wanted to keep a local feel. This has always been a really exciting addition to our portfolio, but that said, we always wanted to keep it ‘hyperlocal’.” Ta. ”
AYR Cannabis Dispensaries acquired two Herbal Remedies dispensaries in Quincy two years ago, but the businesses didn’t become “official” until the rebranding took place during their respective grand openings Thursday.
“Quincy is a great place. It’s a really unique space,” Lonerenfitch said. “We believe in the power of plants, so we want to make it accessible to everyone.”
Other than the change in signage, the situation remains the same.
“We’ll continue to have the same great people and the same great products,” said store manager Taylor Bricker. “The biggest change AYR has brought to us is community involvement.”
“Being a force for good has always been important to AYR and all the communities in which we live,” Lonerenfitch said. “We really value our staff who volunteer in the community. We give our staff specific PTO (paid time off) volunteer hours that they can use to go out and serve their communities. I am giving.”
Headquartered in Miami, AYR Wellness owns and operates cannabis dispensaries in seven states. 4430 Broadway in Quincy is the only local pharmacy with a medical license to charge customers 1 percent tax on top of the state’s standard tax rate.
AYR’s other Quincy location is at 1837 Broadway.
