(Reporter) — Hamilton County has partnered with Riverview Health to expand its wellness program to improve employee wellness and prevent injury.
The initiative originally launched in 2021 as a Tactical Performance Program exclusively for Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department employees, but is now available to all county employees.
This treatment clinic is located at the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office and is operated by on-site licensed athletic trainers. We offer free, comprehensive services aimed at evaluating and treating both workplace and non-work injuries. Trainers can also provide personalized wellness plans to improve overall employee health and prevent future injuries.
Kevin Sloderbeck, Maintenance Supervisor for the Department of Buildings and Grounds, directly benefited from the program. He tweaked his hips while moving the ladder and was able to meet a trainer later that day.
“He heated the area and rubbed the sore muscles,” Sloderbeck said. “He also helped me with stretching exercises.”
Sloderbeck, who has such a physically demanding job, says he is grateful for the program.
“It’s happened to me before, but if I hadn’t had the help of my trainer, I probably would have missed work the next day,” he said. “Not only does this allow me to do my job, but I don’t have to put any additional work on my crew.”
Hamilton County Safety and Risk Manager Stephen Rushforth said he looks forward to the continued success and growth of the wellness program.
“This is really consistent with the county’s commitment to prioritizing the health and safety of our employees,” Rushforth said. “The hope is to address injuries quickly, minimize days missed, and ultimately reduce or eliminate costs associated with injuries and lost time.”
