The perfect 7-step Ayurvedic morning routine

“I wake up in the morning and think about various things…”

Waking up from a cozy night’s sleep can be daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. Unless you have a habit of changing your morning routine from extremely boring to calming, and it also has a lot of beauty benefits.

Enter: Ayurvedic beauty.

Pritika Swarup is the founder and CEO of Prakti, an award-winning beauty and wellness brand that combines science-backed innovation with time-trusted Ayurvedic ingredients. Ayurvedic beauty also takes a preventive approach to skin care. Prithika focuses on effectively slowing down or stopping acne, skin aging, and inflammation. “This philosophy aims to address the root causes of imbalances, rather than just addressing symptoms.”

Prithika doesn’t want people to be intimidated by incorporating Ayurveda into their lives. “Ayurveda is not a set of strict rules, but a flexible framework for promoting overall health,” she shares. You don’t need to make drastic changes to experience the benefits of ayuverda. “Incorporating products and habits into your existing routine has great benefits and can only enhance your current routine. Even small changes can make a difference, but consistency is key.”

Below, Prithika shares her 7-step Ayurvedic morning routine to wake up and glow, no matter which side of the bed you wake up on.

1. Wake up with the sun

Aligning your wake-up time with the sun’s natural rhythm supports your body’s circadian rhythm and promotes vitality and energy.

2. Meditation

Starting your day with meditation (even just 5 minutes) cultivates mindfulness, reduces stress, and promotes mental clarity and emotional balance.

3. Rub your tongue

Rubbing your tongue removes toxins that have built up on your tongue overnight and promotes overall detoxification.

4. Skin care

It is very important to establish a simple daily skin care routine that you can perform in the morning and at night.

5. Breathing techniques

I love practicing breathing techniques during skincare. Especially since Prakti products have mood-enhancing scents. Alternate nostril breathing increases relaxation, oxygenation, and circulation.

6. Facial massage

Incorporating an Abhyanga facial massage while applying a serum to your face (I use SundaSkin Essential Hydrating Serum) increases lymphatic drainage, improves blood circulation, and evens out your skin.
