for example I had a chance to talk to him recently Soldoshi We talk about her latest releases, upcoming projects, and the experiences that shaped her career.
EG: Hello Saul, welcome to EG! Where are you now?
Only Doshi: Hi guys! I’m in my studio in Milan, surrounded by vinyl, paintings, and incense sticks.
EG: Congratulations on your new release “My Friend Is On Air”! Can you explain your creative process? How did you approach creating your original songs and what kind of story do you try to tell through your music? Did you do that?
Only Doshi: thank you very much! ! It all started one day when I was at a friend’s studio. I started playing around with the microphone and cloud using modules for granular synthesis and added envelopes in Maths. Voices and sounds evoking the evocative and mesmerizing sounds of space created the final result. And I immediately thought that this was a great expression of what music is.
After all, sound is a mechanical wave that travels through the air, and it’s interesting how such a simple movement can create sound. After completing the original mix, I had a dream about a girl who lost her friends in an undefined space and tries to search for her friends. So one day I was in the studio with an Argentinian singer. I told him the ideas I had in my head and began audio recording all the elements of my dreams: mysterious dialogues, searches for lost friends, cryptic answers. , and a clue that is likely to worry the protagonist: “Someone said they left together.” Air is a place where everything is scattered.
EG: The EP includes remixes by Thimo Konings and MATVEE. What was it like hearing their interpretation of your work? Did their remix bring anything unexpected or particularly memorable?
Only Doshi: Well, I really liked the original version, but I wanted to tell the story with those vocals.I was really confused so I asked a question. Timo Konings and Matviy Add them in your own way, in the most authentic style. I already knew they would do a very good job and I consider them my little techno geniuses.
EG: Working at Gem Records should be an exciting chapter in your career. How did you connect with them?
Only Doshi: From the first moment I started working on techno music, secret cinema It’s always been part of all my playlists. One day I plucked up the courage to send him my music, even though I thought he would never listen. Instead, he did it. And to my surprise, he also enjoyed it so much that he remixed his one of the tracks and invited me to join his agency. I am very grateful to him.
“It is only in the process of creating authenticity out of the process of suffering that you can get that feeling.”
EG: You have performed at various clubs and festivals around the world. How is playing a track live different from producing it in the studio?
Only Doshi: Honestly, playing your music in clubs all over the world and seeing people get excited when they hear it for the first time is one of the most beautiful things that has ever happened to me. Instead, the production process is completely different, much more complex, longer and not always fulfilling. However, this feeling can only be gained through the process of suffering and creating something real.
EG: Do you have any upcoming projects or releases that you can share with us?
Only Doshi: yes!It will be released on a remix album that I made for an Indian label. GRL recordsa completely different track and out of my comfort zone ureguay record, And finally, a brand new EP is complete! diffused reality, I really love it.Regarding future projects, from September I will be working as my label. drop the record We will be hosting a series of monthly events at Temple of Perduto Futuro In Milan. i’m so excited!

EG: You’ve been a record collector since you were young. What record do you treasure most in your collection?
Only Doshi: That’s difficult.Indeed, the two jazz records of hers that I am most attached to are special editions. “Playboys” from Chet Baker & Art Pepper and “Directly at Black Hawk in San Francisco” by Miles Davis. soundtrack from “A Clockwork Orange” It’s also hard to throw away.
Speaking of electronic things, “Alphatrax -Ute010”mind-bending 303, techno-trance with ethereal pads and moving melodies, timeless sounds.
EG: You co-founded Dropzi Records and have residencies at Tempio del Futuro Perduto and Rocket Club Milano. How do these environments inspire you as an artist?
Only Doshi: yes! rocket club was one of the first clubs I played at and every time I go I feel at home. I can spend hours telling the funny stories that connect me to this place. Temple of Perduto Futuro There is no doubt that this reality affected me on a deep artistic level. Over the course of six years, it transformed from an indifferent social center to the first cultural center recognized by Italian law and an institution of the techno industry.
They also allowed me to get the next residency. drop the record events is not only my label, but a community of artists who want to promote the education of new music and culture, featuring techno sounds ranging from hard grooves to rawer, deeper sounds. “For me, techno is meditation, culture and a unique movement of the mind and spirit.”
EG: What is your most memorable travel experience while on tour? Was there anything particularly fun or unexpected?
Only Doshi: Once I went to play El Atico In Argentina, it was an amazing experience to play from night till dawn in the middle of the mountains. I wanted to stay there forever! Then I actually had to catch a flight home, but it was canceled at the last minute. The next day we realized that if we left, we would be hit by a hell of a tornado.
EG: When you’re not making music, what hobbies or interests keep you busy? Do you have any other passions outside of music?
Only Doshi: Yes, I also work in content production, I also handle the brand’s creativity and music, and I love to keep up to date with other genres besides techno. And now I also draw a lot of pictures on the walls of my house.
EG: Tell me something that no one knows.
Only Doshi: I’ve played at events and clubs that promote this, but I don’t really like the association of techno with chains, latex, and BDSM. I understand that it’s a trend that many people appreciate, but I just don’t get it. For me, techno is a meditation, a culture, a unique movement of the mind and spirit. Also, the last time I performed at an event like this, I was wearing the least sexy granny panties.
EG: Thank you for your time. I wish you all the best.
Only Doshi: Thank you for inviting me! !
