He had acupuncture treatment on his left leg over the weekend with very positive results in his range of motion. I got it.”
Mr Martin said the results of his son’s sleep study provided “good news” as they were able to conclude that Mason did not have central sleep apnea, which prevents the brain from regulating breathing properly. said.
“It turned out he had obstructive apnea. Most people who use CPap (continuous positive airway pressure) at home have obstructive apnea.” Martin said. “We’re still trying to perfect the setup, but he hasn’t had any symptoms of desaturation the past two nights.”
Martin said the goal is for Mason to leave the children’s hospital not satisfied, but confident and hopeful.
“I want him to be in a position to grow and set himself up for success,” Martin said. “We both want to go home, but only when he’s stable enough that he doesn’t need to come to the hospital every other week.”
In his update, Martin also explained how grateful he is to the nurses and doctors who worked with Mason both at Children’s Hospital and UPMC Presbyterian Church.
