HealthWest Minerals, a Chehalis, Wash.-based Mount Capra Products, is recalling 1,506 boxes of goat milk recipe kits based on recommendations from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and asking consumers to immediately stop using them. We recommend that you do so. Product as infant milk.
FDA has determined that this formula does not meet all of FDA’s requirements for infant formula, does not provide adequate nutrition when used as infant formula, and may have been stored inadequately. I am concerned about this. Infants who consume recalled products without additional iron supplementation may develop iron deficiency anemia or feeding intolerance.
Goat Milk Formula Recipe Kit 10 lbs. 8 oz. was sold from May 1, 2023 to May 1, 2024 through Mount Capra’s web store (mtcapra.com) or one retail location in Chehalis, WA.
Recalled product cases include one of the following applicable lot codes:

The FDA notified Mt. Capra of an adverse event report related to anemia in one infant. The FDA found that while using goat milk recipe kits and recipes, caregivers substituted some of the ingredients with another brand of multivitamin, creating a product that was deficient in vitamin B12 and folic acid and ultimately It was determined that he had developed anemia.
The company does not recommend this product for infants 0 to 12 months of age. If you are preparing and feeding your infant Mt. Capra milk from a goat milk milk recipe kit, we recommend contacting your health care provider to discuss whether testing for nutritional deficiencies is recommended.
Customer and product safety are Mount Capra’s top concerns.
Customers are advised to destroy or return the product.
