Pastor Frazier said: “Born near Washington, D.C., Angelo Frazier was six-foot-eight, athletic, and on his way to achieving his dreams. The university’s fans cheered, “DC!” DC! DC!
“Having come from an all-black school in Washington, D.C., he chose an all-white parochial high school that offered him his final year of basketball, where his jumping and blocking abilities were sure to get noticed.
“Sure enough, colleges were recruiting, so he chose Mount St. Mary’s in Emmitsburg, Maryland. After graduating with a degree in business and finance, he began working at banking institutions and in the retail industry. But the cold room with calculators and computers didn’t last long; he yearned for something else, perhaps a career in basketball was for him. He honed his skills by playing for teams in France and then Germany, but then the tragic day came when he tore his Achilles tendon.
“‘What now?’ he lamented as he sat in a hospital bed in Germany, where doctors told him he might never walk again, let alone play basketball. And then the “little did he know” moment began to unfold. God brought him out of the glamorous world and into the real world where he was gifted for the glory of God. No, it wasn’t a great leaping ability now, but a talent for seeing where people were hurting that was beginning to form.
“What this book brings to you is the insight and character of God who stepped into humanity through the saving grace of a man named Angelo Frazier. It offers poems, prose, published works, and common phrases developed over a lifetime of shocking spiritual insights now given.
“From the streets of Washington, D.C. to the ‘streets of Bakersfield,’ you will laugh, cry and be amazed at how God works through this man.”
