The May 2024 issue of Kentucky Monthly Magazine is sure to make you hungry. The magazine published its annual “Food Issue.” This issue once again features mouth-watering recipes submitted by readers and Kentucky chefs, bakers, and aspiring cooks. One of this year’s finalists just so happens to be from Owensboro.

Entries from across the state will be judged on “appearance, creativity, ease of preparation, and most importantly, taste,” the magazine said. Each year, the magazine selects one grand prize winner and three finalists.
This year’s grand prize winner was Julie Hook from Carlisle County, Kentucky. Her recipe? She submitted a sweet and spicy smoked gouda bacon dip. To submit her winning recipe, Julie stayed overnight at her Riverside Inn bed and breakfast in Warsaw, Kentucky, and arranged for breakfast the next morning.

Three finalists were selected and their recipes will be published in the May issue. kentucky monthly In the same way. Mary Perkins-Luketich submitted a ridiculously tempting recipe for the best boozy brownies, and Kari Gavin of Union, Kentucky, shared her recipe for Miss K’s Smokin’ Mac & Cheese.
Merritt Bates Thomas from Owensboro graced the contest with her submission, which clearly wowed the judges. Her Luscious Lemon Her Blueberry Her Cheesecake is an explosion of lemon, blueberries, honey, and yogurt. Having been recognized as a finalist, she has mastered her print skills.She is regularly featured on TV shows local lifestyle About WEHT.
