“What we have is more than just a yoga studio. This is a wellness center,” said the studio’s owner, who is planning a grand opening next Saturday.
Align Yoga Wellness Studio will celebrate its grand opening next Saturday.
Owned and operated by Deborah Blumendras and her daughter Michelle Russell, the studio offers a variety of warm and hot classes for all experience levels.
Blumendras is originally from Port Severn, but she says Orillia has the “ideal community atmosphere” for a new studio to thrive.
“What we have is more than just a yoga studio,” she said. “This is a wellness center. We want to provide our guests with a place to heal, restore and rest, and we center around the practice and philosophy of yoga.”
Align offers 20 classes per week. There is also a wellness room and the services of a practicing Reiki masseuse.
Blumendras, the holistic nutritionist, said Align is open to other treatments that come forward and want to partner with them.
Align is currently accepting reservations for a special offer of 21 days of unlimited yoga for $69. This allows people to try different classes. Align is also equipped with an infrared heating system that helps with joint pain, tissue mobility, and detoxification.
“I’m a baby boomer. My daughter is in her 30s. We want to make sure it’s multigenerational,” Blumendras said. “This is not just a yoga studio for young people. It’s for everyone.”
She said people are already booking classes ahead of the grand opening.
“Everyone is so excited and can’t wait for us to open,” she said.
People are taking their personal health more seriously than ever before, she says.
“I think a lot of us are suffering, in my own opinion, because of the pandemic,” she said. “We need a place where people can just go and heal.”
Being able to become business partners with my daughter is “a dream come true.”
“I feel like we were very aligned with our core values and had the same vision,” she said. “I think we both have different generational perspectives to make sure this space is really appealing to everyone.”
Although there are other yoga and wellness studios in Orillia, Blumendras said Align won’t compete with any of them.
“We don’t believe in competition,” she said. “We recognize that there are other beautiful yoga studios in this community. You can find your own studio, your own teacher, your own class, and it can be found anywhere.”
The business is located at 10 Diana Dr., Unit 1.
