Clinic focused on healthy gut microbiome

original meyeris located on the outskirts of the southern Austrian city of Klagenfurt and was the first to offer the Meyer Therapy, based on Austrian physician Dr. Franz Xaver Meyer’s principles that health comes from a healthy digestive system and a mindful diet. It opened in 1976 as a residential clinic.
From 1901 he believed that: fasting and healthy gut microbiome, decades before those ideas became popular. Today, wealthy guests from all over the world can stay for a minimum of seven nights and choose from a variety of programs.
I was a guest at the resort. In my experience, detox diet I was asked to eat just 600 calories a day and chew everything 30 times.

As a food writer, I expected my stay to be hellish. In fact, I never felt hungry and felt surprisingly energized. I also lost nearly 7 kg in just 7 days and nights. She is 1.95 meters (6 feet 5 inches) tall and my weight when I checked in was 108 kg (238 lbs).

Although the portions were small, the food was surprisingly delicious. One breakfast was buckwheat bread with sheep curd and artichoke dip.

Lunch was the best meal of the day. One day it was sweet potato gnocchi with radicchio and pecorino.

Dinner was always soup, and most of the time it was vegetable broth, which was basically calorie-free.

Chinese medicine examinations take a comprehensive approach

But the most moving and powerful part of my stay was my TCM consultation with the resort’s head physician, Dr. Ursula Muntean Lock. He trained in TCM for 3 years in Beijing and has been practicing TCM for over 20 years.

Muntean-Rock uses Chinese diagnostic methods; herbal therapy and acupuncture. The clinic has always offered a variety of approaches to finding the root of the problem, but few clinics have taken such a comprehensive approach as TCM.

“Our bodies are the ‘vehicles’ of our souls, and the soul and body must work together,” she says. With thousands of years of history, Chinese medicine has developed systems that keep cars running smoothly and prevent breakdowns.

When she meets someone for the first time, she prefers not to look at their file right away. “This already makes me think in one direction. I love arriving at a Chinese diagnosis without knowing the history. Most of the time I like to start by reading the pulse.”

Within seconds, she told me that my Qi, or “gasoline” side as she calls it, was a little low on energy, and checking my pulse showed that my blood pressure was high.

During the 45-minute consultation, she also asked questions about my overall health and well-being, physical and mental state, and checked my face and tongue for any signs of ill health.

Fortunately, she determined that my heart, or “soul home,” was “very good.” She also said that I “seem like a very smart person. I can just observe and make decisions without panicking.”

She’s obviously right, but my wife would disagree.

TCM treatment targets imbalances

Ann acupuncture The session continues: needles are inserted into specific points on the body called acupuncture points and messages are sent to “rebalance” the flow of energy.

This was my first acupuncture treatment in years. And it reminded me of how calming and powerful it can be. I vowed to have regular sessions when I got home.

I also had my stomach massaged, Chee Nei Tsang, focuses on the internal “balance” that allows for the free flow of Qi.This is said to have the following benefits: digestive diseases, infertility problems, stress and anxietyemotional imbalance and chronic pain.

The combination of Chinese medicine and Western medicine is “excellent compatibility”

During counseling, Ms. Muntean Locke is caring and empathetic.

“There are a lot of people coming here who have already seen a lot of specialists but still don’t know what to do. So we said, why not bring together medical knowledge from all over the world? Told.

“If you perform a Chinese tongue, pulse, and facial diagnosis in addition to clinical examination, sometimes we can administer herbal medicine, but sometimes only Western medicine is needed. But you only have the most It is a possible treatment.”

“Acute symptoms are definitely better and faster to heal with Western medicine,” she says.

The one-week Meyer Medical Diagnostic Program, which includes examinations, diagnostic tests, massages and other treatments, costs €2,550 (US$2,750) per person for seven days. Rooms start from €260 per night (single occupancy) and €240 per person per night (double occupancy).

Muntean Rock Tips for Improving Gut Health

  1. Eat meals at regular times and avoid using devices or watching TV while eating. Chew your food at least 15 times before swallowing to aid digestion.

  2. To remove acidity in the body, dissolve one teaspoon of alkaline powder in water and drink it daily.

  3. Get at least 7 hours of sleep each night.

  4. Ideally, you should walk outside for 40 minutes every day and walk in nature.
