Ferndale Upper fills venue with words of affirmation during Mental Health Awareness Month
Ferndale, MI – In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, Ms. Jenelle, a mental health expert from FUEL, collaborates with Ms. Tiffany from Communities In Schools to raise awareness and reduce the stigma of mental health wellness. led an extraordinary effort to Her week-long celebration focused on promoting positivity, resilience and self-care among students and staff.
Throughout the week, the halls filled with energy as students participated in daily dress-up themes. This included Wednesday’s “Buddy Day,” where students and staff dress alike to show unity and support within the FUEL community. Staff also introduced a new mindfulness pathway with affirmations at each step, providing time for reflection and empowerment as students go about their day.

The students worked together to create a new window art installation, shown below. This installation is comprised of beautiful butterflies that affirm strength, hope, and resilience, serving as a powerful reminder of the impact of positive words and self-expression.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the first week of Mental Health Awareness Month Spirit Week a success. Together, we are building a culture of compassion, understanding, and resilience at FUEL.
