Unless you’re expanding your business, less is more.
Hannah Brose, a Bowling Green native and 2021 Bowling Green State University graduate, owns Wildflower Beauty and Aesthetics in the city’s downtown.
The business has always been located at 101 N. Main St., but recently decided to expand. The expansion will add many new services to the existing list, including microblading, eyelash extensions, and permanent makeup.
“The entire front of the salon will be a medical spa,” Brose said. “Once we launch these services, we will be the only salon in Bowling Green with a medical spa.”
This service may seem scary to those who have never made reservations. So what do medical services actually do?
Microblading adds semi-permanent ink to the skin, usually to fill in eyebrows, but permanent makeup (despite its name) is not permanent. However, it lasts longer than regular daily makeup.
To ensure she can provide these services, she is currently pursuing a Master of Nursing Practice degree at BGSU.
Initially, Brose did not pursue a career in medical aesthetics. She started with a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Health Sciences and graduated in 2021.
“I started working in hospital administration and hated it,” she said. “I started doing this and I love it.”
“I don’t feel like I’m working. It’s a great atmosphere.”
Brose returned to BGSU to pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing, graduating last month, and plans to earn her nursing practice certification next year. This will jump-start your medical spa plan.
Other Bowling Green salons offer similar services, but Wildflower stands out from the crowd, Brose said.
“It’s a one-stop shop for everything. I think that helps differentiate us,” she said.
Brose chose BG because it has a strong connection to his hometown, as there are many lively towns in the area, such as Perrysburg and Findlay.
“I’ve always loved how community-oriented BG is,” Brose said. “BG has a small-town feel versus larger towns like Findlay and Perrysburg.”
The store will remain open during the renovation and an official ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 101 N. Main St. on Tuesday (May 14th) at 4 p.m. Light hors d’oeuvres and a raffle for salon services will also be provided.
