Ormond Dale McGill 1913 – 2005 The legendary Ormond McGill, known worldwide as the dean of American hypnotists, was born June 15, 1913, in Palo Alto, California, October 19, 2005. He lived there until his death at the age of 10. 92. He graduated from Palo Alto High School and attended San Jose State University. Actively involved in the field of hypnosis since 1927, McGill pioneered the integration of hypnosis, meditation, and creative hypnosis strategies, and received international acclaim for his groundbreaking writings. He has been honored by numerous organizations, including the American Council of Hypnotism Examiners, the National Guild of Hypnotists, the Hypnotherapy Training Association, and the American Society of Magicians. Ormond McGill was an internationally acclaimed magician and hypnotist who toured all over the world with his exciting stage shows. He was one of the first stage hypnotists to perform on radio and television, including appearing on the popular Art His Link Letter television show. After the death of his wife, Delight Olmsted McGill, in 1976, he continued to tour with his close friend Charles Mignosa, presenting “hypnotic concerts.” In addition to researching stage hypnosis, Mr. Corte has been training hypnotherapists since 1981. He was also an active faculty member at Madera’s Hypnotherapy Training Institute. Just four days before his death, he taught his final class to a group of advanced students. Ormond McGill was also a noted naturalist and made well-known contributions to the fields of entomology and snail science. He was a true collector with a wide variety of interests. Among all his contributions, the richness of his teachings will remain with us forever. He has produced many great insights in recent years. They are born out of his deep mastery of many hypnosis techniques, his deep personal understanding of Eastern meditation, mysticism, wisdom, and healing systems, and his creativity, vision, compassion, humor, and his life experiences. Ta. For many, Ormond McGill will be best remembered for the aura of friendship he radiated towards everyone. He always made time for friends and family, and you could often find him at his Creamery on the Peninsula in Palo Alto. He was a regular there almost every day since it opened in 1923. For him, it was all part of his fascination with Palo Alto and its history. In recent years, Ormond McGill has been able to maintain his independence, thanks in large part to the loving care of his dear friend and colleague, Marlene Mulder, director of the Hypnotherapy Training Institute. He leaves behind his four nephews and their children, the Olmsted family of Palo Alto, and thousands of grateful students, colleagues, and wonderful friends.
