The Community Nutrition Network and Senior Services Association is celebrating 19 years of serving Grundy County, and the Grundy County Chamber of Commerce said in a news release Thursday that it is proud to welcome them as members.
“We are a nonprofit organization that provides nutrition and companionship to seniors in our community,” Patricia Strahan, director of nutrition, said in a news release. “We are offering home-delivered meals to adults 60 and older and their spouses, along with other meal options such as restaurant meals and a week’s worth of frozen meals.”
Community Nutrition Network is also part of the Meals on Wheel Foundation of Northern Illinois.In Grundy County, it’s located at 1700 Newton Place in Morris and is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
On May 7, the Grundy County Chamber of Commerce, along with the Community Nutrition Network team, Morris Mayor Chris Brown, Minooka Mayor Rick Offerman, and numerous area business partners, announced the Community Nutrition Network Chamber of Commerce A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to celebrate the joining.
“Community Nutrition Network and its volunteers do more than just provide meals to our senior community. They provide connection, friendship and joy through their service. We are so grateful for their dedication to our community.” said Christina Van Yperen, President and CEO of Grundy Chamber.
Community Nutrition Network has a team of four staff members, but as a local non-profit organization, Community Nutrition Network has a large volunteer base, serving communities in Morris, Minooka, Coal City, and Mazon.
