Avenue to Wellness will be hosting “The Doctor’s Journey: Abuse,” by Dawn Marie Risley Childs, Donut State, on Wednesday, May 15, from 6 to 7 p.m., at Willits United Methodist Church, 286 School Street, Willits. Through Psychedelics and Forgiveness.”
This event is open to the public, donations are welcome, and it is wheelchair accessible.
Dr. Risley is a retired board-certified physician specializing in psychiatry. Even though Dr. Risley survived severe mental, physical, and sexual abuse, he forgives his abusers after realizing that those who harmed him are damaged human beings. I chose to heal.
Born to a violent alcoholic father, younger sister to a defeated older brother, raised by a psychopathic stepfather, and a sadistic mother who played the victim role, Risley is a survivor. It inspires people to shake off the albatross of shame and take the first step on a journey of healing. Free yourself from the burden of her righteous anger and fear. Please join us for this uplifting and empowering talk.
Dr. Risley is an advocate for those suffering from mental illness, a private pilot, former skydiver, art collector, and most importantly, a wife and mother.
