A dermatologist advised against two skincare myths that could do more harm than good to your skin.

She also shared some anti-caking makeup tips that will keep your skin smooth and dewy.

Dr. Azadeh Shirazi is a medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology expert who shares skincare and health tips online.

She previously spoke to The US Sun about the feminine products and DIY beauty techniques she uses for anti-aging.

This time, she revealed some common myths that beauty fans should avoid.

it’s not nonsense

First, experts debunked the misconception that if a product stings or burns, that must mean it’s effective.

According to Dr. Shirazi, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

In reality, it means that your skin is severely irritated by its ingredients, she said.

The second one was about how to use SPF and how you should pay attention to it.

She acknowledged that many people who aren’t visibly tanned don’t feel like they need to wear sunscreen, or that they don’t need to wear sunscreen after, say, 3 p.m.

“UVA rays are present throughout the day and penetrate deeper into the skin than fiery UV rays,” Dr. Shirazi said.

These can damage the DNA in your skin and increase your risk of cancer.

When it comes to maintaining a youthful appearance, excessive sun exposure can also “degrade collagen and cause discoloration.”

Dr. Siraj also shared some makeup tips to help you look younger.

“To avoid cakey makeup, start by misting your skin with spa water or just water, then apply a few drops of a hyaluronic acid serum,” she advised.

She recommended L’Oréal 1.5% Pure Hyaluronic Acid Serum to get the job done.

After setting your base, she suggested applying foundation and makeup to dewy and hydrate your look for a smoother look.

How does UV rays damage your skin and cause aging?

“UVA rays are present throughout the day and penetrate deeper into the skin than fiery UV rays,” says Dr. Shirazi, a board-certified dermatologist.

When it comes to maintaining a youthful appearance, she explained that excessive sun exposure can also “degrade collagen and cause discoloration.”

She added that they can damage the DNA in the skin and lead to an increased risk of cancer.

The skincare guru also had a way to hide stubborn under-eye bags.

“Before applying concealer, first apply a copper or orange color corrector,” she explained.

Dr. Shirazi confirmed that she uses the copper-colored EyeGlow AM, which also doubles as a moisturizing peptide serum with SPF50.

Finally, if you want to brighten your under-eye area, avoid using mascara or eyeliner on the lower eyelid hairline.

unconventional method

Dr. Siraj also shared some additional beauty tips to help you look your best.

She recommended incorporating Rogaine minoxidil solution into your plan three to five times a week to grow your eyebrows.

She also suggested adding a small amount of lactic acid cream, or amlactin, to your lips before applying Vaseline and leaving it overnight.

“It’s soft and smooth in the morning, making your lipstick look even better,” she explained.
