SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — In a mission to break down barriers to mental health, the Social Therapy Project and Highland Center are teaming up to host their third annual Mental Health Fair this Saturday. Masu.
The event includes free complimentary haircuts, door prizes, face painting, bouncy houses, hot dogs and more.
According to its website, The Social Project (STP) provides low-cost treatment and supports people who face financial or social barriers to receiving assistance.
‘Mental Health Encouraging Fair’ aims to remove the stigma of seeking mental health support.
The event will be held on May 11th and will be led by STP founder and professional counselor Valencia Jones.
Jones became a licensed professional counselor in 2017, specializing in domestic violence and supporting adult survivors of child sexual abuse and survivors of human trafficking.

STP features a variety of resources related to mental health, wellness, budgeting, and credit management.

- From 8 a.m. to noon, The Highland Thrift Store sells affordable household items and is open once a month with proceeds supporting Highland Center’s missionary programs.

The Mental Health Fair will be held from noon to 2 p.m. inside the Highland Center Gymnasium, 520 Olive St, Shreveport.
