Nutritionist-led startup personalizes fueling strategies for elite athletes
Hexis, a pioneer in AI-driven fueling plans for athletes, has raised £1.6m in a pre-seed funding round.
The company aims to improve sports performance through intelligently personalized nutrition technology.
The round includes APEX, a world-class athlete-backed venture capital firm with a track record of backing successful technology startups, and global sports investment firm that manages ownership of French soccer clubs Southampton FC and Valenciennes FC. Includes investment from Sport Republic. and Göztepe SK in Türkiye.
The company is backed by Tour de France stage winners and Olympic medalists, as well as other prominent sports venture capital firms, including Dopamine Sports Ventures.
Every athlete can now create a completely personalized fueling plan to suit their requirements. This is made possible by a unique scientific carbohydrate coding system that calculates and predicts how you should refuel.
Hexis also said it is the first to offer a fueling plan that adapts in real time to an athlete’s workout to optimize performance and accelerate recovery.

Hexis is led by CEO and co-founder Dr. David Dunne, whose research in behavioral design thinking has helped bring co-founders Dr. Sam Impey and Professor James Morton’s research to fruition in technology. I am.

Professor James Morton is previously Performance Nutritionist at Liverpool FC and Head of Nutrition and Physical Performance at Team Sky, bringing a wealth of experience from the pinnacle of elite sport. Morton plays a key role at Manchester United FC through his work with INEOS, helping to shape the team’s performance strategy.
