We are pleased to announce that the Friedman School’s 2024 student commencement speaker will be Ana Mahfus-Rodriguez, a graduate of the Nutritional Interventions, Communication, and Behavior Change PhD program.
Born and raised in Mexico City, Ana studied nutrition and health at Monterrey Tecnológico to become a registered dietitian. Before she came to Boston, she worked as a researcher at the National Institute of Medicine and Nutrition. She is a nutritionist who provides nutritional guidance. and as a part-time lecturer at her alma mater. She collaborated on various projects related to food composition analysis of poultry and dairy products. Diet suitable for kidney disease patients. Introduction of family orchards and backyard poultry to improve food security in the Mazawa community. Providing medical programs to vulnerable families with nutritional and psychosocial problems. Driven by her interest in how individuals acquire and act on new knowledge and the need to better share nutritional information, she also studied at Tecnológico de Monterrey. I earned a master’s degree in education with a focus on process.
She came to the Friedman School in 2018 to pursue a master’s degree in the NICCBC program. She then moved on to her doctoral program in 2020. While at Friedman, Anna has worked on a variety of research projects related to nutrition communication and behavior change. you are mom Social media campaign by CO180 Group. She also works as an instructor. She has served as a student representative on admissions and recruitment committees including the Tufts International Center.
After graduation, Anna will remain at Friedman for postdoctoral training. In the meantime, you can always find her with a plastic container wherever there is free food.
