A celebrity skincare guru shares her tips for looking younger, including the key steps to take before applying makeup.
She said her anti-aging beauty regimen visibly reduces wrinkles with minimal effort.
Esthetician Kristin Gunn is the founder of Beaux Medspa in Austin, Texas.
She shared some helpful beauty tips with The US Sun, including products she recommends buying and avoiding.
anti-aging advice
Gunn’s top tip for younger-looking skin is to always apply moisturizer before applying makeup.
“When you’re hydrated, wrinkles are less likely to form and wrinkles are less noticeable. Don’t forget your neck, too,” she said.
She also shares “old, tried-and-true tips” that most of us know, such as not sleeping with makeup on, drinking plenty of water, and staying on top of your B vitamins. I shared some of them.
If you don’t have anything on hand after cleansing, she recommended aloe vera, which soothes tired skin.
She also claimed that exfoliation is a necessary part of your regimen as natural processes begin to slow down after the age of 30.
She suggested the Skin Renewal AHA/BHA cleanser from her brand Halcyon. This is what “dissolves the dead skin cells that have built up and allows the next step of product absorption.”

product power
Gan admitted that she doesn’t like many drugstore products because they contain chemicals and don’t contain active ingredients.
“Products that work don’t come cheap, but you don’t have to buy a $200 moisturizer either,” she says.
She adds that you don’t have to spend a fortune on a good product, but “medical-grade products will give you the best results.”
One of the top brands she recommended was Elta MD, which has a full skincare range sold online and in many medical spas.
Gan first suggests finding a cleanser that’s good for daily use, and she personally likes the EltaMD Foaming Cleanser, which she said lasts several months.
According to experts, it’s safe for all skin types, balances pH, and doesn’t strip your skin, so you won’t get that “waxy residue” that comes with other cleansers.
“Elta now also offers great moisturizers and is very conscious about using good ingredients,” she said.
Gunn called EltaMD Skin Recovery Light Moisturizer “cool water for your skin.”
“This non-greasy formula doesn’t feel heavy when applied and gives a wonderful plump, hydrated finish,” she added.
Another great product Gan considers is La Roche-Posay Hyaluronic Acid B5 Pure Serum. This is suitable for everyone’s skin texture, especially during the change of seasons.
“It will hydrate and plump your skin, making it healthier overall,” she said.

skin condition
Gunn described her skin as “sensitive, combination, and mature.”
To take care of it, she uses Revision Skincare’s Papaya Cleanser morning and night to feel clean without the “dry, tight feeling.”
Gunn continues that with Halcion Skin Care Retinol every night.
“It works in combination with an ingredient called backthiol, which helps eliminate skin sensitivity associated with retinol,” she explained.
Her nighttime moisturizer and final step is Halcyon Skin Care Lipid Restore Night Cream. She compared it to SkinCeuticals’ Triple Lipid “without the super expensive price tag”.
“It doesn’t break me out and increases my hydration by 20%,” she added.
