Some are surprised and upset that Armenia is developing and deepening its relations with the EU. And why not deepen it? Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this at a press conference on Tuesday.
“Someone is asking us where we can recognize the problem, where it is becoming more relevant in that direction and, in our perception, is happening at the expense of our interests. Does anyone ask us? When we say, “Why not?” They say, “We are a sovereign nation.” We are also a sovereign nation and are ready for consultation and dialogue, but this approach is universal,” Pashinyan said in particular.
He also touched on the current disagreements between the Armenian authorities and the Armenian Apostolic Church.
“We are not in conflict with the church. Whether the church is in conflict with us or not, the church has to answer that question. If some clergy do their political bidding, It means they have acknowledged their failure or inability to provide spiritual direction.”
Currently, there are clergymen in Armenia who are providing full-fledged spiritual guidance. (…).
Clergy who have failed in spiritual direction and failed in their mission to connect people with God are doing their political bidding. Unfortunately, many prelates are in that situation. Not all, but many.
Unfortunately, they fail at the highest level of spiritual guidance. (…). I am not surprised that they are doing their political bidding because they have nothing to do in the spiritual field. It’s not theirs. Maybe they haven’t read the Bible to the end,” Pashinyan said.
He said the highest leadership of the Armenian Apostolic Church has failed in spiritual direction.
“Today people come out and openly preach war. In whose name are they preaching war? They say the temple will conquer the street. But who is the street? ? The streets are the people, the people. This is how I am here. ” (…) If the people decide that they want war, I will try to present everything to them, and I am doing so now. ” the Armenian Prime Minister emphasized in part.
