As travelers seek experiences that promote health and well-being, leading hospitality companies like Marriott and Hyatt are responding with on-property services.

Leading hospitality brands are ramping up their fitness and wellness offerings to attract travelers who have come to expect more than just sitting poolside sipping margaritas, but wellness, exercise, and even I would also like to have professional sports coaching opportunities.

Marriott Bonvoy luxury properties in the Caribbean and Hyatt are just two of the major hospitality brands entering the wellness travel space this spring, and for good reason.

Marriott adds yoga, pickleball and more

In response to growing consumer demand for nature-based and physical activities, Marriott’s Puerto Rico location in Dorado Beach now offers 11 rooms with options for yoga, pickleball, and night hikes under the stars. It offers miles of forest trails. The St. Regis Bahia Beach Resort also offers the opportunity to commune with nature, take a trainer-led fitness class at the Athletic Club, or book a restorative treatment at the spa.

Marriott’s St. Regis Bermuda Resort caters to golfers and yogis, while Grace Bay Resort in the Turks and Caicos Islands offers leisurely cardio workouts and pampering spa treatments, including muscle recovery and relaxing massages. Meanwhile, the Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman Resort offers a full range of services including professional tennis and pickleball coaching, kayaking, guided scooter snorkeling, and golf.

Hyatt & Peloton Rewards Travelers

While Marriott’s Caribbean resorts focus on providing a rich fitness and wellness experience with spas, trails and courts, Hyatt has partnered with Peloton to offer World of Hyatt member (loyalty program) properties. Rewards for using Peloton equipment inside. Through this partnership, the connected fitness company will equip more than 800 Hyatt properties with fitness equipment and provide access to its content in approximately 400 guest rooms.

The hotel brand says its booking data shows travelers are increasingly focusing on health and wellness amenities when planning their vacations.

“Maintaining healthy habits while traveling can be difficult for everyone,” said Greg Hybl, senior vice president and general manager of Peloton for Business. “Our goal is to continue finding innovative ways to give everyone a little extra motivation so they can have some time for themselves, even when they are far from home.”

Beyond fitness

At Mii Amo, an all-inclusive, celebrity-loved wellness and fitness destination in Sedona, Arizona, travelers can choose from several “intentional journeys” to connect, soothe, discover, indulge, or recharge. I can. Each experience includes mind-based and physical components. For example, travelers seeking “discovery” can experience a soothing sound bath or a hike through Boynton Canyon that includes guided meditation. In addition to the spa, Mii Amo offers a fitness and movement studio with overlooking sensory gardens, trails for hiking and biking, and personal fitness and nutrition coaching.

Many travelers want to book a hike or a massage, while others want to book a stay to catch up on sleep or learn techniques to hack their snooze.
