Artworks and poetry collections intrigue enthusiasts at PNCA

Muhammad Sajjad Akram’s solo exhibition and launch of his collection of Urdu and Punjabi poetry ‘Mureed-o-Murshid’ explores spirituality in contemporary art while showcasing his multidisciplinary mastery.
The exhibition, which began on May 6, is organized by Pakistan National Arts Council (PNCA) Visual Arts Department. Since then, it has attracted the attention of art lovers, culture enthusiasts, and distinguished guests.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of Dr. Arjumand Faisel, Curator of Gallery 6, whose remarks highlighted the deep journey of spiritual connection depicted in Akram’s work.
“Muhammad Sajjad Akram’s art expresses the deep journey of spiritual connection between teacher and student, encapsulated in his exhibition Murid-o-Murshid.” Arjumand Faisel Dr. “His ability to convey the beauty and depth of art through his paintings, sculptures and installations is truly inspiring.”
Known for his expertise in sculpture, painting and installation art, Akram captivated audiences with his intricate designs, patterns, calligraphy and relief works that reflected the noble relationship between master and disciple. Inspired by his revered master, the late artist Irfan Hakim, Akram’s work incorporates elements of geometry, black-and-white fantasy, and geometric patterns, imbuing each piece with deep symbolism. It’s imbued with sex and meaning.
In addition to his visual artistry, Akram also displayed his poetic talent by launching captivating poetry collections in Urdu and Punjabi.
“We are thrilled by the overwhelming response to ‘Mureed-o-Murshid’,” said PNCA Secretary General M. Ayub Jamali.
The exhibition can be viewed from 10am to 4pm every day, except Saturdays when the gallery is closed.
