With over 20 years of experience in scalp and hair health, Eva Proudman busts common myths about how long it takes for hair to grow.

In a TikTok video, Absolute Collagen’s expert trichologists revealed that how quickly your hair grows is primarily determined by your genetics, not how often you trim your ends.

Proudman explained that everyone’s hair grows at different rates and durations depending on their family DNA.

Usually ranges from 0.5 to 1 centimeter per month.

Growing hair follicles may seem like a daunting task, but Eva shared her top five tips for supporting hair health and maximizing its growth potential.

When it comes to hair products, quality is always the best option, regardless of cost.

Proudman recommended products that “nourish and protect hair.”

This promotes overall health and vitality.

Proudman emphasized the importance of staying hydrated.

Experts say that hair is made up of 10% water, and a healthy scalp needs moisture.

“Proper hydration is essential to maintain hair moisture and overall health,” she said.

Should I apply vitamin C to my skin?

Topical vitamin C has several benefits for your skin, including moisturizing, reducing redness, and hyperpigmentation.

It may also help boost collagen production and reduce sun damage, according to Healthline.

Research shows it is safe for most skin types, but can cause irritation at concentrations above 20%.

Experts recommend doing a patch test on a small skin area before applying it to your face and waiting 24 hours to see if there are any side effects.

Discontinue topical vitamin C use if you develop a rash, redness, or hives.

    Storing supplements

    Proudman also suggested adding two vitamin supplements to your daily routine.

    She said many of us are deficient in vitamin D, which plays a “critical role” in supporting growth.

    It also regulates the immune system and promotes the growth phase of hair follicles.

    She recommended taking 1,000 IU of vitamin D a day for “optimal hair health.”
