Despite being naturally gorgeous and genetically blessed, many stars have seen the sharp tip of a Botox syringe.
And according to an injectable expert at a top Manhattan plastic surgeon’s office, that’s not all they’re doing. Met Gala attendees have detailed the expensive skin treatments they receive ahead of the big event.
Neinstein Plastic Surgery is located meters from the Plaza Hotel and Bergdorf Goodman, and just a mile down Fifth Avenue from the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The location is perfect for celebrities and fashion luminaries to take a quick break and tune up before their big plans on May 6th.
The doc doesn’t list famous clients, but told the US Sun that both stars and fashion industry insiders are booked.
In fact, their schedules are so packed in the lead up to the Met Gala that they even work overtime on weekends.
Some regular customers come back year after year for the same treatments, including Botox injections for the entire face and fillers for the lips, chin and under-eye areas.
“Many celebrities have the same fears and concerns about their appearance as normal people,” says Tara Adashev, a nurse manager and injection specialist.
You can also get “Met Gala Glow” for a small extra charge.
So what exactly does that mean?

Adashev says it’s a combination of two treatments and aims to leave a “glass-like glow” on the skin.
She said, “It preps my skin for upcoming events with no downtime.”

The first is the $400 Aqua Gold Facial. It is customizable and uses microneedling to improve fine lines and wrinkles, brighten dull skin, shrink pores, and fade acne scars.
“This is a cocktail that perfectly suits your skin type,” Adashev explained.
“We’re catering to your skin’s needs, not mine or anyone else’s,” she added, noting that they start with a mini-assessment and choose which ingredients to include accordingly.

Vitamins, minerals, hyaluronic acid, Botox, or whatever else she chooses are then quickly injected into the skin with tiny needles.
Treatment is recommended 24 to 48 hours in advance, but some people receive treatment on the morning of the red carpet, Adashev said.
“By the time it starts, your skin will be brighter and your makeup will go on better,” she said.
“Everyone is so interested in the glassy skin, donut glaze look,” she adds, noting that it lasts three to four weeks.

The second part is the Lutronic Ultra laser, which costs about $800 per treatment.
It can also improve skin texture and treat sun damage, age spots, pigmentation, and fine lines.
This takes a little longer to take full effect, so patients are more likely to book an appointment a little further away.
“For 7 to 10 days leading up to the Met Gala, it is effective for skin tightening, skin whitening, anti-aging, pores, wrinkles, etc.,” Adashev said.
The downtime for laser treatments is considered short, with “top radiance” achieved in about a week.
The finishing touch to all of this, Adashev says, is Botox, an anti-aging staple that typically takes a few days to take effect.
Is “Met Gala Glow” really effective?
The Sun’s lifestyle editor, Carly Stern, tried this treatment.
I’ve been to the Met Gala once, or at least the red carpet, but as a reporter I waved at the stars to stop for interviews.
Kim Kardashian was pregnant that year and wore that controversial floral dress. She also obtained a grainy photo of Taylor Swift. She was magical.
Anyway, I don’t think you’ll get a personal invite from me any time soon, but when I was offered the chance to get my own “Met Gala Glow,” it was an easy yes.
First, head nurse Tara Adashev assessed my skin and decided how to customize the first part of my treatment, an Aquagold facial.
She noticed that my skin was fair, my cheeks were slightly flushed, and my chin had some pigmentation, and she pulled out a few good things from her arsenal.
She gave me vitamin C, Botox (injected superficially, not into the muscles), and Skinvibe, a new hyaluronic acid filler that was just approved by the FDA last year.
These were all stings on my face with the microneedling tool, and they pinched a little, but they weren’t too bad. Everything took just a few minutes.
This was followed by a Lutronic Ultra Laser, which made several slightly stinging turns throughout.
To be honest, my face was burning by the time I left the office.
My skin is usually pretty sensitive, so this didn’t surprise me, but I was looking forward to having a cold compress applied to my face when I got home.
Fortunately, the burning sensation was short-lived and I felt much better after about an hour and a half.
Adashev warned me that my skin might feel like sandpaper for a few days, and it did — but strangely, you’d never know just by looking at me .
After a few days, my skin texture was not only back to normal, but smoother than before.
I also noticed that my skin tone became more even and the pores on my nose, where I spend so much time staring in the mirror, were visibly smaller.
The fine lines on my forehead and the small 11 line are no longer so deep.
Unfortunately, I don’t have any functions to attend to show off my glowing skin, but I think it might be better that way and I might be able to truly embrace my inner celebrity.
