Barbara Jameson smiles at her home in Florence with her new cookbook, “Lark Landing Breakfast Recipes.” (Olivia Johnson/Daily Record)

Irony is often a funny anecdote from everyday life, a neat extrapolation of delicious recipes and some pretty funny life experiences from Florence resident Barbara Jameson’s new cookbook, Breakfast on the Lark and Lots of Laughter. is.

“I’ve always loved cooking, but it wasn’t until I was a teenager that I lit matches,” Jameson said with a cheeky grin. “When I was 9 years old, I was making eggs and my 5-year-old brother had to light the stove.”

Ms. Jameson and her husband, Mark, purchased Lark Landing, a stunning B&B on Florence’s east side, in 2000. Together, the couple completely redesigned and completely renovated her six-acre property, which now has stunning views of the Arkansas River and River. And the vast grounds of the B&B.

Since opening the B&B, Jameson has spent years experimenting with different recipes for her guests, while also learning about new and unfamiliar options from her tenants.

“The first chapter is recipes from the menu here at Lark Landing, but the rest are random recipes with interesting stories and they’re all from different parts of my life,” Jameson said. .

The idea for this cookbook came to me a few years ago when I was busy preparing breakfast for the residents of my B&B. She has found that most of her own recipes are not only delicious, but also have humorous backstories that may serve as amusing anecdotes for her cooking enthusiasts.

The recipe book features a variety of breakfast goodies, including Ranchero Egg Sort, Fiesta on a Plate, and Southern Fried Apples. However, the salivating recipes don’t stop at breakfast, they also include lunch and dinner options, and even desserts like Pineapple Upside Cake and Flan.

For Jameson, this book features not only her favorite dishes, but also some of the funniest and quirkiest stories from her life. She has traveled and lived all over the world, including being held at gunpoint over a bunch of asparagus and traveling to Thailand to have the best breakfast of her life. This includes things you have done.

Until the first edition of this book is published in 2022, we will continue to work closely with you to select and test recipes, work with professional editors, and determine the best way to tell the food and stories accumulated over a lifetime. It took a year.

But like any work of art, this book, recently in its fifth edition, is printed by Jameson himself, although the trimming and binding is done by a master printer in Cañon City.

To celebrate the latest release of the book, Mr. Jameson will be holding a book signing on May 11 at 2 p.m. at the Florence Pioneer Museum and Research Center, 100 E. Front Street, Florence. In addition to the autograph session, there will also be mango cutting demonstrations, rare cooking utensil demonstrations, and free gifts.

The book is available for $18.95 and could be the perfect last-minute Mother’s Day gift.

For more information, contact the Florence Pioneer Museum at 719-784-1904.
