In some cases, a greenhouse is more than just a place to grow plants. His two-acre property for sale in Southern Oregon includes a greenhouse with climate control and 15-foot ceilings so guests can dine in comfort under a moonlit sky.

This is the kind of singular detail created by a collaboration between functional medicine expert and designer Nisha Jackson and builder Michael Woods. In 2020, the duo built a wellness-based home at 4542 Aerial Heights Drive in Medford that incorporates a contemporary feel heavily influenced by California’s indoor-outdoor living.

Unique property is the result of collaboration between medical professionals and designers … [+] Nisha Jackson and builder Michael Woods.

“Neither of us had ever done anything like this before,” says Jackson, who owns several medical businesses in Oregon. “What inspired us was [Woods’] Although our construction backgrounds and my development construction/design backgrounds are different, we realized we had a lot in common and liked the same design elements. We wanted to try a big project ourselves. ”

The result is a contemporary, 8,293-square-foot self-custom home with an emphasis on indoor/outdoor living, sustainability, valley and mountain views, and ample entertaining space.

Modern clerestory windows flood the double height entry with natural light.

Currently on the market for $9.98 million, the property includes a main house, guesthouse, greenhouse, two-story space for an art studio or office, plus a three-car garage, sauna, infinity pool, and putting green. It is.

A 15-foot-tall glass wall offers views of the valley and mountains.

For Woods, witnessing the house was the driving force behind the design. “I think one of our main inspirations was to optimize the setup,” Woods says. “We both like a modern, contemporary style, so we created a large window that frames this beautiful view as you enter the front door.”

The living room features a vertical stone fireplace.

The white stucco home with black trim elements sits on a hill nearly 700 feet above sea level overlooking the Rogue Valley below and the vineyards and meadows of the Siskiyou Mountains in the distance. Rooms with 15-foot-tall glass walls face the outdoors, from the living room with a vertical stone fireplace to the main floor dining area and chef’s kitchen with a marble island and walnut breakfast bar. I am. There is also a second kitchen for catering.

The home office is located behind steel and glass doors.

“No matter where you are on the main level or the lower floors, you have this view. At different times of the year and at different times of the day, you can see the weather across the valley changing before your eyes. ” says Woods. “Sometimes you’re above the fog, sometimes you’re below the fog. It’s a really amazing view.”

Two indoor swings suspended from the ceiling in the living room are one of the unique features of this home.

The home’s open floor plan leads to a balcony and terrace area with dining and entertainment space. The master bedroom has wrap windows and a gas fireplace. Heated marble floors lead to a tile and stone bathroom with a freestanding tub, double walk-in shower, and large vanity.

A marble island and breakfast bar highlight the chef’s kitchen.

The lower floor has two en-suite bedrooms, facing the pool and valley, and has access to the kitchen and bar area. The gym, overlooking the pool, is equipped with a steam shower and a Swedish sauna. Next to the pool is an outdoor dining and living room area with a fireplace and wooden bar. There is a private promenade surrounding the property.

There is a tasting area outside the glass wine cellar.

What does Jackson like most about home? Relax on the swing hanging from the ceiling. “What we love most is coming home from work, drinking wine and swinging against the view,” she says. “It’s pretty epic. There’s something cathartic about the swing.”

Oversized windows in the primary suite offer expansive views.

The expansive grounds also have an intimate side. Jackson said he never felt crowded at the summer party, which drew more than 200 guests. “Almost everyone who comes here says the same thing: It feels comfortable and homey,” Jackson says.

A combination of stonework creates visual interest in the main bathroom.

She also poured her “heart, soul and wallet” into the land and never thought of leaving home. But because of her family, travel, and work commitments outside of Oregon, the couple decided to sell.

The guesthouse features a private open-concept space and a kitchen with a breakfast bar.

Jackson, an Oregon resident, owns and operates OnePeak Medical, which specializes in functional medicine, primary care, hormonal balance, age management, and disease prevention. Wellness facilities include a home gym.

Jackson said future owners could be year-round or seasonal users who want a turnkey home with privacy in a natural setting. Luxury homes in southern Oregon have a lot of square footage to manage. “The benefit of this is that we have two acres of perfectly manicured land, but it’s not a place where you have to work like a vineyard or orchard,” Jackson says.

A landscape layer set in a retaining wall creates a natural enclosure for the hilltop site.
