“God created us to be part of a larger community, and we grow better by moving together,” says Pagani. “God places you in a group of believers He has appointed for you who believe He can customize you to who you are.”
Sabchuk also said that the sacred covering protects us from life’s violent storms.
“A good covering for God is for protecting yourself,” Sabchuk says. “It protects us from pride. It protects us from criticism…and it protects us from stupidity.”
He also explains the difference between spiritual leaders and people with cult characteristics.
“You are not allowed to question or criticize the leaders,” Sabchuk said.
Saldívar says churches that don’t allow their members to gather with members of other churches can become cult-like.
“We’re talking about a church that says you’re not allowed to mix with other churches…When the pastor starts saying, ‘It’s just us…’ you start to fall into the shallows of cultism.” ” said Saldivar.
Saldívar warns that while some churches may not quite fit the description of a cult, they may appear as if they are on the path to becoming one. Saldivar says you can definitely tell it’s cult-like behavior when a pastor or leader starts venturing into areas of life that should not be entered into.

Signorelli raises questions about accountability. In order for Christians not to fall, it is important that they fulfill their responsibilities. Godly wisdom and accountability are essential for Christian and ministry to function properly.
“You have discernment ministers without discernment. You have accountability ministries without accountability. Some people call wolves wolves,” Signorelli said.
