Christian Uy, better known as Chef K, Kardashian and Jenner’s private chef, will appear. From Kourtney’s supplement brand REM to Kim’s intense workout routine (according to her Instagram, cited by Vogue, she works out for two hours five to six times a week). There is no doubt that the five most famous sisters of our time are wellness girls. And when it comes to their meals, Chef K knows the ins and outs, so we asked her to share the nutritional tips she uses to feed her high-profile family (see this tip (Let’s just say it deserves a chef’s kiss). Breakthrough as season 1 winner of reality TV competition taste, Cristian Uy is currently a personal chef, event caterer, and TikTok star. During her 20-year culinary career, she has cooked for A-list celebrities, from the Kardashians to Charlize Theron to the Jonas Brothers.

1. Seasonal shopping and eating

Chef K chooses as much seasonal produce as possible to provide meals as healthy and flavorful as possible. “My favorite tip is to eat what’s in season. Don’t use ingredients that aren’t in season because they don’t taste good,” Chef K advised. “You need to use your ingredients at their best.” Eating foods in season means a variety of varieties are available year-round, reduces travel time, and eliminates the preservatives needed to maintain freshness. Because you need less food, you can enjoy a variety of meals and produce when it’s most nutritious and flavorful. Plus, eating seasonally supports your body’s needs, tastes better, and is more cost-effective. Chef K tailors his diet to what the body naturally desires depending on the season. “In the winter, you can’t go wrong with soups and pasta dishes. In the spring and summer, my customers love hearty salads and nutritious smoothies.”

2. Use whole foods as the base for every meal

What we eat affects our mood, overall well-being, and even mental health. There’s power in clean, nutritious, and simple ingredients. “It’s all about starting with the right ingredients,” explains Chef K. “How you feel after eating is most important. Food is energy. Eating highly processed foods doesn’t make you feel good, but eating foods carefully sourced with clean oils and nutritious ingredients can help.” Instead of building your meals around frozen or packaged ingredients, try building your meals around whole ingredients.

Chef K’s favorites are sprouted nuts, recycled meats, fresh local produce, and spices. When buying processed foods, be sure to read nutrition labels and choose products with ingredient lists that you can recognize and pronounce. When in doubt, replace packaged foods with whole foods (foods found in nature and on the outer periphery of the store) whenever possible.

3. How you prepare your food also matters

The way you prepare your food and the tools you use to prepare it have a huge impact on the nutrients it contains. The best way to preserve maximum nutritional value is to steam, boil, or stir-fry, but frying, grilling, or smoking can improve the health of vegetables and grass-fed meats. Even natural foods can have reduced nutritional value or added potential toxins. Then there’s the cookware to consider. Some materials, such as Teflon and aluminum, can release chemicals that are harmful to food, especially at high temperatures. 5. Breakfast for meal preparation

If meal prepping every meal feels like a chore, flip a page to Chef K’s recipe book and prioritize the breakfast that’s relied on to feed the Kardashians. “With a busy schedule, lots of traveling, and quite a few meals, it’s so important to make breakfast in advance, so smoothies and overnight oats are my go-to,” Chef K said. “Overnight oats are a great way to get a high-protein, fiber-rich energy boost in the morning. They’re usually made with almond milk as the base and topped with strawberries, chia seeds, honey, or nuts. Add nutrition and deliciousness.”

Even if you don’t have a personal chef on speed dial, it doesn’t take much time to prepare the “most important meal of the day” ahead of time. Find easy recipes that you can recreate right out of bed, and add variety with classic ingredients (like berries, spices, nut butters, and eggs). Preparing your breakfast in advance can make the difference between fueling your body with a nutritious morning meal and eating a not-so-nutritious muffin on your way to work. After all, eating a hearty breakfast (with protein, fat, and carbohydrates) can improve your hormonal health and blood sugar levels, improve your focus, and help you maintain energy throughout the day.
