The 37-year-old Franklin Lakes resident and mother of two wants to show others the same joy Pilates has brought her.
Teicher Reisman first discovered the magic of fitness while living above Flywheel Studios during college at Parsons School of Design in New York. She attended classes as much as she could.
Her problems outside the studio disappeared as she pedaled away, immersing herself in the music and knocking out one job after another.
“I had classes in the morning and in the evening,” she said. “And in between classes and schoolwork.”
After college, Tichar Reisman began her career as a personal shopper and stylist. She remained dedicated to her fitness goals and dabbled in her different styles.
“I tried a lot of workouts,” she said. “But because of my body type, I felt like the workouts were either high in volume or I was gaining weight instead of losing weight. I didn’t achieve the goals I wanted. ”
But Pilates was different. It was unlike any workout she’d ever tried, and she was hooked. It was exactly what she was looking for.
“Fitness is addictive. And…this was like an escape. I was into Pilates, doing it for hours a day, and then styling people and doing personal I was building a shop.”
After the birth of her second daughter in 2019, Teacher Reisman devoted herself even more to Pilates, exploring the endless possibilities on both the reformer and mat.
Just before the pandemic, Tichar Reisman, who had two young adults at home, knew she needed to make a change in her professional life.
“I decided I wanted to try combining fashion and fitness, and I had to decide what that was going to be,” she said.
Naturally, she was driven by her love of fitness and desire to own a brick-and-mortar store.Teacher Reisman has earned the following certifications peak pilates And I started offering classes at my Ridgewood studio.
“It’s clear to me,” she said. “I almost go into a trance-like state and feel like I’m floating. I feel very much like, ‘If I can work on this reformer, this horrible device, I can take on the world.'”
What she loves most is the “thousands” of possibilities that exist between the reformer and the mat. In some cases, it may be a combination of both.
Now that she’s teaching, Teacher Reisman says she’s getting more out of Pilates than ever before.
“Even if it’s just 30 minutes a day, it feels like an escape,” Teicher Reisman said. “I don’t have to think about anything except being here and being present, and I know I’m going to feel great afterwards.”
