What is a family without the black sheep that drives people up the wall? Many families ignore such troublesome members, but sometimes things go too far and they start causing distress to the family. It becomes very annoying in the long run, especially when one of the member’s girlfriends tries to gain an upper hand by proving that she is better than the other members. So did her mother-in-law u/OrganicHighlight5741, who shared her troubles regarding her step-daughter, who is one year older, on her Reddit. Seeing her daughter-in-law’s behavior, her mother-in-law chose not to share her family’s recipes with her, and she now wonders if that was wrong.

The mother-in-law did not notice the superior characteristics of her daughter-in-law (whom she called Kelly) at first, but over time it became obvious. The whole family was good at cooking and buying thoughtful gifts. Her mother-in-law said her daughter was very good at making pies and would often bring them to her family events. “One day, my daughter-in-law asked for the recipe, and she gave it to me. She (my daughter-in-law) started bringing pies to every family event, making my daughter her own. It was like kicking me out of work.” One-uppers didn’t just copy, they asked other families to compare which pie was the best. “My daughter was not happy,” her mother-in-law said.

Another incident where Kelly’s insensitive behavior was evident was around Christmas time. This time, Kelly chose her mother-in-law’s youngest daughter, who is 14 years old. In their family, the children were supposed to buy their own festive presents, and her youngest daughter had planned a thoughtful gift for her mother. “Her youngest child did not hide the fact that Secret Santa gave her a knitted scarf. She was 14 years old and she clearly knew about it. Her whole family knew,” the woman said. wrote. “For Christmas, my daughter-in-law gave me a really nice scarf as a bonus, and she gave it to me right after her younger child gave it to me.” We decided to talk it over and end it. However, the daughter-in-law denied it, and even though the whole family noticed, the woman’s son was unable to notice her wife’s fault.

At some point, almost every woman or girl in the family was one-upped by a daughter-in-law. “Now back to the main topic of this article. I have a very delicious Italian recipe that my mother gave me. I bring it to events. My daughter-in-law asked for the recipe. I said no,” the mother-in-law said. Law. Additionally, “She accused me of not giving her family recipes because I didn’t see her as her family. I said it was because of her actions.” she added. Now, her mother-in-law was chastised by her son and daughter-in-law for hating one-uppers and sticking to her family’s recipes. So she turned to the internet for help, and she received overwhelming support.

“NTA. I keep all my family’s recipes to myself. She’s doing this to be better than everyone else. You’re nicer than me. I don’t want her to go to events anymore.” I won’t let her bring anything in. If it continues after that, I’ll just stop inviting her to events again,” said u/Artistic_Tough5005. “These are your recipes and you can save and share them as you wish. No one will claim any rights to them,” u/Liu1845 pointed out. “Please don’t tell her that recipe. When your DIL is involved in the future, tell your other daughters to be more careful and secretive about recipes and gifts,” suggested u/Shichimi88 Did.
