Light It Up Green is part of Mental Health America’s annual campaign, encouraging buildings and structures across the country to light up green, the color of mental health awareness, during the month of May. .
For the past 75 years, Mental Health Month has been observed each May as a way to draw attention to the fact that 1 in 5 people will experience a mental health condition each year and 50% of their lives will experience a mental health condition.
John Mastronardi, executive director of The Nathaniel Witherell, said: “The journey to mental health is never something we should face alone, so we need to have a conversation about mental health and breaking down the stigma that comes with it. We strongly believe that there is.” . “Anxiety and other mental problems are not limited to young people, and mental health problems are not limited to a particular age. Older people experience anxiety due to a variety of issues. We often crave the companionship and social connections we need for our own stability. Therefore, we join others in “Lighting It Up Green” and our mental health improves. Show solidarity and support for a belief that matters and should be addressed. ”
