Promoting staff health was the goal of a recent event at the Central California Women’s Facility (CCWF).

Director Anissa de la Cruz hosted the first Staff Wellness Self-Care Fair, which was attended by over 600 CCWF staff from all workplaces.

More than 50 outside vendors and CDCR agencies also had booths at the event, where our staff could receive everything from wellness information brochures to wellness services.

This was a way to promote awareness of the services available and how to better care for yourself and your family.

The day was filled with music, presents, prizes, food, and laughter.

Some of the booth attendees were:

  • California Peace Officers Foundation
  • Service Employees International Union
  • CDCR Wellness Office
  • CCWF recruitment team
  • Government Alliance for Race and Equity
  • california correctional chaplaincy service
  • Valley State Prison Peer Support
  • Fresno Police Department Peer Support
  • Merced Sheriff’s Department Animal Control (all puppies are adopted).

The director attended along with CDCR Deputy Director Angela Kent.

The CCWF Employee Action Committee partnered with Director De La Cruz to provide taco plates and drinks to all attendees.

The event included music, photo booth, massages, facials, chiropractic adjustments, peer support, pastoral support, real estate, travel, and more.

“Prioritizing staff health is essential to fostering a culture of care, boosting employee morale, increasing productivity, and ultimately fostering a thriving and resilient organization,” Dela Cruz he said. “We recognize that CCWF staff have a hard day’s work, and we wanted to give them the opportunity to take a break from work and find a way to relax. I am truly grateful.”
