NEW DELHI: Uttarakhand on Monday suspended the manufacturing licenses of 14 products manufactured by Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali Ayurveda Ltd and Divya Pharmacy with immediate effect.
The state licensing authority said in an affidavit that the cancellation order was issued for “repeated breaches” of the Narcotic Drugs and Magical Therapy (Offensive Advertising) Act 1954.
“The SLA has issued an order dated April 15, 2024 against Divya Pharmacy and Respondent No. 5-Patanjali Ayurved Ltd., in which 14 products of the company, namely ‘Swasari Gold’, ‘Swasari Vati, Bronchom’ “Swasari Pravahi”, “Swasari Avale”, “Muktavati Extra Power”, “Lipidom”, “Bp Grit”, “Madhugrit”, “Madhunasinivati Extra Power”, ‘Rivamrit Advance’, ‘Rivogrit’, ‘Aigrit Gold’, ‘Patanjali Drishti Eye Drops’ and ‘Patanjali Drishti Eye Drops’ have been suspended with immediate effect under Section 159(1) of the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945. “
“District Ayurveda and Unani Officer, Haridwar, under Sections 3, 4 and 7 of the Drugs and Magical Remedies (Offensive Advertisements) Act, Swami Ramdev, Acharya Balkrishna, Divya Pharmacy and Patanjali Ayurveda Limited before Chief Justice Haridwar. Earlier, the Supreme Court was hearing a case regarding misleading advertisements by Patanjali Ayurveda, a company owned by Ramdev. The company demanded that the company issue a public apology in a newspaper with the same size as the product’s advertisement.

The SC has postponed the hearing of the contempt case against Patanjali founders Ramdev and Balkrishna after they failed to submit an affidavit regarding a public apology published in a newspaper.
The SC also told the Indian Medical Association (IMA) that while it is pointing a finger at Patanjali, four fingers are being pointed at them. “Your doctor has also recommended drugs from the allopathic field. If that’s what’s happening, why shouldn’t we beam at you?”
