What is neck cream?
“Neck creams are moisturizers formulated to address skin concerns on the neck. These are typically lines, including sagging, sagging, ‘tech neck’ lines, and wrinkles,” says Engelman. Masu.
What causes neck wrinkles?
The neck is known to be prone to signs of aging, and this is at least partly due to biology. “The skin on the neck is thinner than the skin on the face and continues to be exposed to the same environmental stressors, such as UV rays and air pollution,” says Libby. “Neck skin also has a lower composition of oil glands than facial skin, so it produces less oil needed to adequately moisturize the skin barrier.”
Moreover, modern equipment does not help you aim for a wrinkle-free neck. “Downward movement is increasing as this generation focuses on constantly using technology. [of the neck,]” says Libby. “This downward movement physically causes wrinkles, but it doesn’t help areas of the body where the skin is naturally thinner.”
Why does the skin around the neck and décolleté age faster?
The skin on the neck is not only prone to aging in general.Sagging and wrinkles are more likely to occur fast. “The neck area is particularly prone to premature aging because the dermis is thinner and therefore naturally has less collagen,” Engelman says.
“This is also an area that is highly exposed to the sun and the elements, which accelerates aging.” Of course, human error also occurs. “The neck is an area that’s often forgotten or ignored when applying serums, moisturizers, and sunscreen,” says Engelman. “I always tell my patients that their skin doesn’t just stop below their jawline.” Fortunately, a properly formulated neck cream can help reduce that area. It can protect you from neglect and has many other effects.
What to look for in a neck cream
The best neck creams are thick and made with ingredients that combat signs of aging, Engelman says. “We recommend looking for neck creams that contain antioxidants that fight free radical damage that causes premature aging,” she says. She prefers creams containing ceramides and peptides, which strengthen and repair the skin’s barrier. Retinol or phytoretinol, which stimulates the production of collagen and elastin. Additionally, the more moisturizing the cream is, the better. “Hyaluronic acid is an excellent moisturizing ingredient that plumps the skin and reduces the appearance of wrinkles,” says Engelman.
How to properly apply neck cream
Neck creams can be used day and night, but especially in the morning, use creams with SPF. “Apply the cream gently in an upward motion to avoid pulling the skin downwards,” says Libby. “As mentioned above, the skin on the neck is very thin, so it’s important to treat this area carefully,” warns Engelman. “Pulling or tugging at the skin can make wrinkles and creepiness worse.”
